Every year, students in the Creative Writing magnet at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School travel to the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in Northport, Alabama, to interview selected artists. In 2011, 25 students in grades 10, 11 and 12 partnered with students from the Photography magnet to work toward including pictures with their subsequent articles. The articles here, in our annual "Kentuck Issue" of Newsprung, reflect a youthful take on meeting the extraordinary artists that gather each year in mid-October at this well-regarded festival, with some commentary about their experiences with engaging some of the best art in the United States.
